How do I have the Pantech Crux ask for my password every time?

do i have to go to phone settings and 'lock my phone' everytime i want it to be locked as in password? if someone uses it, i want the password thing to show up. but if i put it in , the next time i close and open it again, it's unlocked without asking for password\.
