I have a prepaid cell, no internet, no email but I could get yahoo messenger once?

Yahoo7 has stopped messenger for mobile but if you type a code ointo your phones web browser, you can still use it. I don't have a web browser, why can't I still use my messenger? I don't think I should be punished for having a basic cell phone. Is there another way I can get my messenger for mobile back? USA Yahoo doesn't recognise my Australian phone number so can't go through them.
