Why did the Turkish captain fired live ammunition at target, held by subordinate soldiers?

This is an ordinary military training which aims to help troops to gain confidence in a real battlefield where live ammunitions are fired. This is an ordinary training in all the NATO armies. Normally they use machineguns in their training. This is a very similar thing except that here a short gun is used instead of heavy machineguns. It's basically the same thing.
